I am very excited to teach first grade this year! I am married, and I have a daughter named Kate who attended St. Joseph School. Kate is now completing her senior year at Ithaca College.
While growing up, I attended a Catholic elementary school and a Catholic high school on Staten Island, New York. I then went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Science degree in Literacy from St. John's University. In order to remain current in literacy education, I recently took two graduate courses at Nazareth College. I love working on reading and writing skills with children!
My teaching career actually began as a first grade teacher at Notre Dame Academy on Staten Island. I taught there for five years before my husband's job was transferred to Rochester. Since that time, I have enjoyed working at St. Joseph School both as a classroom teacher and a substitute teacher. Throughout my twenty years as a classroom teacher, I have taught in kindergarten through fourth grade. While raising my daughter, I have also worked as a substitute teacher for the Diocese of Rochester in kindergarten through sixth grade. I love teaching, and I have enjoyed working with all of my students at St. Joseph School!
Each year, I look forward to getting to know every one of my students. I enjoy helping each child reach his/her full potential while developing a love for learning. I truly believe that first graders are fabulous!
